If you're a government official and against "public health care?" As in, the government paying for the public's health care? Then go off the fucking grid and stop accepting our tax money for YOUR health care,
you miserable son of a bitch. Bootstraps away, eh? -You- pay for a fucking chronic illness or catastrophe out of pocket. No donations, no insurance, nothing beyond your basic salary. Go on, it'll be funny.
And no, at this point most Americans aren't too stupid to understand we're getting screwed over.

ReplyDeleteIn my last blog entry, I wrote about a friend of my wife's who is 39, otherwise quite healthy, and has Alzheimer's. I am not fucking kidding. For about three years, people were thinking it was all kinds of other things. (At his age, you just don't think "Alzheimer's". Well, we didn't.) Now he can't work, except for something part-time, minimum wage and very undemanding, and his partner is worried sick about how they're going to make ends meet. The jobs he can do will help L'Ailee's friend with pride and mental stimulation, but not really with his medication and therapy.
We definitely need something better than what we have currently, and all the Republicans seem to know how to do anymore is shit all over any idea for improvement that anyone comes up with.
This post warms my anti-governmental heart, Belle. I much prefer when advocates of government provided/funded services couch the issue in such terms. It treats the government less like a master due tribute and more like a voluntary association.

Thank you! I'm sick to death of politicians who get taxpayer funded health care, huge salaries (with fat routine raises) giant pensions and lots of perks always claiming that public health care, raises in the minimum wage, improvements to Social Security and the like aren't feasible/ appropriate. Let them work a minimum-wage job with paltry health insurance (if any) for a year and they'll be singing a different tune.
ReplyDelete(hi, I'm new)- gee, a system of non-profits that handle health care? What a great idea! Why haven't we tried it before! Oh, wait. We did. They're called HMO's and everyone hates them. Because roughly 6 years after the law was passed, some administration in the early to mid 1980s let them become corporations. And now they hate their consumers.
