ReplyDeleteWhen i moved to the old 'hood, it was a brand new HUD subsidized joint. I would play music regularly, but it was n't loud.
ReplyDeleteThis guy next door, though, he hated it and kept telling everyone it was loud. None of us could figure it out. We'd go outside the door of my apt, listen, we could barely hear a thing. How could it be annoying him?
We finally figured out that there was a structural defect in the AC units. My stereo was set up right next to the unit. Noise went directly to his apt.
on another, uh, note, your story reminds me of a list I was on where someone wanted to get revenge on a neighbor. On dj said, get your hands on a record that played a bass line. set it up to play over and over. Leave house for the day. Never loud enough to disturb, but loud enough to annoy.
Sounds like your neighbors have inadvertantly stumbled on this DJ's idea of tortue!

ReplyDeleteThe thing is, it actually *isn't* just a bassline; there's a melody. A really stupid, repetitive, monotonous melody, but a melody nonetheless. It seems to be their get-going-in-the-morning/whistle-a-happy-tune
song, judging from the accompanying bustling noises.
You want annoying? Get a teenager really mad, send her to her room, and then listen to the bass line from some godawful screaming German death metal band for the next four hours. Know that she's playing it to punish you. Know that because her bedroom is upstairs and you're disabled and don't do stairs there's pretty much nothing you can do.
