"What he said."

Anthony on "Hatemongering Misogynistic Hacker Assholes."

Hackers suck. People who think rape is hi-larious really REALLY suck. And yeah, it can, does, might, and has happened to any of us. There's no automatic protection from assholes who want to fuck with your life, should they get a mind, whether it be rape, assault, or just ("just") harassment/har har racism and sexism are just so funnnnneeeeee. Because, you know, it isn't about what the target did or didn't do to "provoke" it; it's about, these people are ASSHOLES, and the buck stops with them. That's kind of (part of) the whole point of feminism, from where I sit.

Yep. Women, & more men than these worms imagine, are on to their shit. This impulse to bother women is mostly its own punishment, a sign of some deeper defect & a dirty little secret they’ll always have to fear will be exposed to parents (assuming mom isn’t mummified in the cellar), neighbors, employers, co-workers, the authorities, & 99% of the people they’ll ever meet on the street. Well-formed people, capable of successful relationships, would never do this shit, & despise & want sanctions against the creeps who do. There are billions of us & so few of them, & it’s they, not we, who’re hiding & have reason to fear.

Already, Heart is using this as a crutch to slander all who criticise her antiporn politics as supporting such cyberterrorism; with the usual notions that \”pro-porn\” women are untouched by such acts.

Yeah, my account at Margins was not hacked, as some others were, which spooks me in a big way.

They definitely targeted certain individual women. :(

Specious reasoning, but it still sucks that her blog got hacked.

well, yeah.

I think they're pretty clear on who actually did it--some worthless little boyhacker nosegoblins from the 4chan boards and that ilk. they're sort of like geekboy South Park poltergeists only without the shred of decency or actually being funny.

Just wondering, were you aware that the hackers who coordinated the attacks linked, very approvingly, a comment you made here? (By "very approvingly" I mean that on their page devoted to Heart, the hyperlink text directing their minions to your comment read "Best.comment.ever.")*

Adrienne Rich, anyone?

Everything we write
will be used against us
or against those we love.
These are the terms,
take them or leave them…

We move but our words stand
become responsible
for more than we intended
and this is verbal privilege...

Of course, the same poem (North American Time) includes a proviso about those we don't necessarily love (I'm pretty clear you wouldn't describe yourself as loving Heart):

One line typed twenty years ago
can be blazed on a wall in spraypaint
to glorify art as detachment
or torture of those we
did not love but also
did not want to kill…
.

As usual, my own words fail and only Adrienne Rich's will do.

But for the record, I got hate mail within 15 minutes of posting a mere message of support on Heart's blog (which was maybe my 2nd or 3rd comment ever at her site).

Fascinating, ain't it?
