Well, now I've gone and done it.

I had to. wouldn't let me log in otherwise. the luddite upgrades. meet the new blogger. same as...well, no, maybe it'll be an improvement.

meanwhile i am PISSED because i had spent a goodly chunk of time putting together a long post of worthy links & commentary, was just finishing off and the bloody power went out for a microsecond. pfft. gone. and then, blogger started fucking with me.

BUT i now get to use post labels. which, good times.

I'm sorry for your loss, I hate it when things like that happen. Lose some of the nicest posts that way.

What is a post label?

What is a post label?

It's a way for blogger to say it actually made upgrades as opposed to making a big fat turd and calling it the New Blogger.

Blogger sucks. You should come over to Wordpress. That's what I did...

veronica: I was asking myself that very same question. I think it's those items down at the very bottom of the post ("goddamn Blogger", "kvetch") that let belledame categorize her writings into different topics.

But I'm just guessing.

oh... tags. tags are good. they up your google ranking for a given entry.

Did you go Beta???

Besides the sweet labels, I mean.

It made me do it too. Resistance is futile.

it dragged me kicking and screaming. I'm still irritated.

oh that's right, you lost your nice banner. i WANT a BANNER, me.

I was wondering, since this is about blogger, um, is there an etiquette or something for links and quoting other posts besides giving proper credit to the author? And how does someone do a trackback? Do you ask first, which seems the polite thing, or what?

It's actually not so bad once you get over banging your head against your keyboard every freakin' time you try to do something new.

It's like the damn xlm police. I don't care if my html is poorly parsed as long as it shows up like it's supposed to. New blogger won't let you do anything like that. And now I'm trying to go to three columns and it looks like that template change is going to be my life's work.

It does have a few good things I like.

Wow, GREEN. So soothing.

TN: oh SHUT UP. i am TRYING to EXPRESS myself here with very limited resources.

Please use the label "kvetch" as often as possible. I love Yiddish.

New blogger is drek though..

Green? What green? I see brown and some brownish orange … is there something wrong with my browser?

You ought to spruce up your blog a bit, bd. Maybe get a banner or sumthin.

*ducks*

How to put an image on your header:

It's not exactly like making your own header but it's as close as I can get without asking the 7 yr old for help.

It's...different...:-D

so, i figured out how to change the side-panel color, but not the header or surrounding orangey background of the top chunk. combined with maroon side-panels it was a rather splendidly horrifying effect. so, back to the drawing board with that.

i did manage to change the little bar between each post from pale peach to maroon--see?

it -looks- to untutored me like they have a link to somewhere else, where the code for that template header is all nicely arranged in a chunk, and i can't get to it, and wouldn't know what to do with it if i did.

grumble.

i don't LIKE earth tones.

i don't know what i do want, but i am quite sure i don't want any more earth tones.

it's just none of the other premade templates are any better.

AW: not that i know of, and no clue.

Green? What green? - ballgame

Yeah, it was all green when I checked it last night, but it's gone to back earthy shades of dun. Pity, I liked it.

i -would- keep the green, but then you called it "soothing" and that just totally ruined it.

no, also, i didn't like the way the posts were crowded together.

I like soothing. Condensed mild and all that.

i "upgraded" a few weeks ago. and i use the term "upgraded" in the same way i use the term "fucked up everything".

and what is the nature of the fuckedupness? well, i'm glad you asked. i now get logged out regularly every other day. and instead of having to enter my user name and password, i have to enter my email address and password. only i have to now enter it twice, after the system forwards me to the "new and improved" login page. and i use the phrase "new and improved" in the same way i use the phrase "new and totally fucked up".

and all this for what? tags? if i were still living in new jersey, i'd say "i've got your fucking tags right here".

and sorry for all the profanity. i am usually rather polite and avoid such language. except when it comes to things, well, fucked up. it's enough to make me want to spend a hundred dollars a year for my own domain and blogging software. of course then, i'd really learn how to fuck things up.

fuckedupingly yours,
nexy
