Quote of the day, 6/30/08

The Doctor:** The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

--Doctor Who

**(no, NOT that one for once, the one with the scarf. bite me)

Good quote!

Dr Who (scarf remix) was okay in his day I - but...

/controversial mode: on

Rose Tyler should have been the 'new' Doctor... She hotwired the Tardis, flew it across a zillion universes, rescued the Doc and kicked the Daleks' collective butt.

It wuz a bloomin' swizz, guvnor, and no mistake
/Dick van Dyke

But it was good to see her back again last week...

I'd love to see a woman Doctor for the next one, much as I shamelessly adore David Tennant (when he finally steps down). dunno about Rose -as- the Doctor, but she do kick ass.

"D'you like my gun?"

schweet.

Donna's my favorite Companion thus far, though.

Perhaps, Belle, we'll meet at a Dr Who conference one of these days...

- "I'm just accompanying a friend who shouldn't be allowed out on her own!"

- "Well, I thought it was a trades fair! I'm trying to bulk-buy shoes, I had no idea that the place was full of loonies. Who is Dr Who, anyway?"

Tom Baker has had such a cultural impact here that every time I have worn a (non-football obviously) scarf, someone's made a Dr Who joke.

Though there was some stirling work for Little Britain before it turned to poop, I think it is clear that his main contribution to the world has been scarfy innovation.

yeah, I hadn't even realized till much later that that was him on Little Britain.

and yes, it did turn to shite but well never mind.

Reminds me of Radfems.

But as they'll tell you, they have no power. I guess that leaves the other option.

"Don't call me stupid."

"Why on earth not?"

Hmmm, what's more likely - a white woman Dr or a black male Dr?

Getting a bit of de ja vu here ...

Sometimes, you have to wonder why the re-wiring of everyone is such a fucking big deal for everyone else.
