Whoa!

Rove is leaving? Faithful Rover is leaving? I'll be damned.

Karl Rove is moving on down the road," Bush said, appearing grim-faced on the White House's South Lawn with Rove at his side.

...Rove's departure reinforces Bush's lame-duck stature and declining influence, particularly with Democrats in control on Capitol hill.

"Obviously it's a big loss to us," White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said. "He's a great colleague, a good friend, and a brilliant mind. He will be greatly missed, but we know he wouldn't be going if he wasn't sure this was the right time to be giving more to his family, his wife Darby and their son."

*snort* Is there ever such a thing as an official who officially resigns for some reason other than "wants to spend more time with his family?"

Also, consider: someone married and procreated with Karl Rove.

Just notin'.

Anyway. I'd tuned out most things Bushwise--after all, what more is there to say? "Yep, he's still a cluelessly malevolent, epic fuckup, continuing to fuck things up, as fuckups are wont to do. Film at eleven. Oh, look, there goes another official plummeting past the fifth floor window. Ho hum." Rove, though...

I'd like to think he's running from congress or paid a cop for a blow job, but he probably he's just getting ready to save the GOPs 2008 campaign.

Ten bucks says that he's being blackmailed, and it's something GOOD. (Mostly because I don't think he'd be too worried about being outed by the D.C. Madam, and goodness knows he sure didn't quit because he wanted to spend time with his family, after being the puppetmaster for so long.)

Didn't the ship sink about two years ago?

recycling. the congress is closing in- he is still under subpoena. now, he 'won't have access' to official documents and whatnot. he is being recycled somewhere else. neocons don't resign- they are reuses elsewhere. sorry to burst bubbles :)

Now I have to disagree with prettylady. I think in this case it's the ship deserting the rats.

Took a look around. Decided too much lame and too much duck. Potential to inflict damage now too severely constrained.

So I agree with Betmo. It's on to greener fields. To wither them, to be sure.

Fellas, there's no inconsistency among our views. Rove is distancing himself from Bush so that he can latch on to a more viable puppet.

You know, I believe him when he says he needs to spend time with his wife. A blind, deaf, and retarded wife must be extremely high-maintenance...

I'm sorry! This brings out my meanness! :-D

I don't know Rove or his work, although I do know that the former leader of the opposition in Australia was forced to resign due to appearing like he was well switched off from current affairs, having confused our Rove with your Rove.

That supercilious little pratt. He brings to mind a number of unpleasant and unworthy mental images...most of which are connected to Ned Beatty being miscast in Deliverance...Rove was robbed...robbed I tell you!

I've been a cad for not visiting, Belledame...an utter cad. Thank you so much for coming by the SMB. I'm wracking my brain over my upcoming guestblogging gig at Feministe coming up. Not sure whether to do a series of posts on Appalachian women or to serialize a story for them. I'm sure to offend someone...arrrrgh.

yes, he does. even more so: "Squealer" from Animal Farm.

and no worries, I've been a total blog slouch myself, thriving on and posting the equivalent of junk food, if anything.

btw, I sent you an email yesterday; just wondering if it showed up? because if it didn't, that means a number of other people didn't hear from me either. If you did and just haven't gotten to it, no worries.

and, I doubt you'd offend anyone worse than, well--they've gotten a fair gamut these past few weeks, and you're a kickass writer. "Write what you know."
