In related news, I once saw a quote on, I think, Pharyngula:

"The person who would die for his belief will always let others die with him, often before, at times instead" (rough quote).

Excellent.

And I am intrigued by the sentence Alon Levy quotes. Someone just went on at me about how if you are not willing to die for your belief, you don't really believe it.

I thought: what about beginning by having integrity while alive?

I think it maybe depends on the belief. and, how related the belief is to actual other people and/or at least other living beings/the planet. as in, -really,- not just in true believer's feverish little brain.
